GenAI: Balancing Innovation and Academic Integrity

In Fall 2024, the College of Nursing integrated Generative AI (GenAI) into a graduate-level course to enhance learning and academic rigor‚ the  initiative aimed to establish clear AI usage and citation standards while addressing diverse educational and professional backgrounds. GenAI supports understanding complex concepts and improving graduate-level work. Challenges arose as students needed help fact-checking AI outputs and applying critical thinking. The course used a "traffic light" framework to set AI-use boundaries, balancing innovation with academic integrity and promoting responsible AI engagement.
