Educators in many fields have expressed concern about use of artificial intelligence tools in their teaching. While their hesitation is understandable, adopting new techniques need not be as fearsome as they might think. Drawing on some of the current literature on AI-assisted pedagogy, this session provides participants with resources for broadening students, experience in the classroom with generative AI. Discussion and activities in this session include using claude.ai and other tools as a coach, a tutor, a proofreader, a tone-detector, and sparker of creativity. There will also be information about the societal, environmental, and economic drawbacks that support arguments for careful and modest use of this technology.
