Regents

The objective of this presentation will be to promote adoption of digital accessibility workflows that include the element of human review wherever AI tools are used.

Intended outcomes include understanding of practical and legal frameworks for accessibility generally and alt-text specifically, of current AI alt-text generation abilities, of potential pitfalls related to AI use, and of possible mitigation strategies.

Additional consideration will be given to motivationally supportive presentation design, such as recognition of pressures that orient instructors toward time-saving measures and away from time-intensive remediation efforts, and of underlying institutional values promoted by accessibility.
