About me
Rebecca Huskey received her doctoral degree in religious studies from the University of Iowa with an emphasis on 19th and 20th-century European thought. Her publications include Ricoeur on Hope and journal articles with a focus on the intersection of philosophy, theology, and literature. She is currently working on a monograph on the manifestations of hope in the work of Native American poet and novelist Sherman Alexie.
Dr. Huskey teaches a variety of courses, including Classical Mythology, the Letters Capstone, and a series of courses she created called “The Examined Life.” In the latter, students look at literary and philosophical texts, and consider the historical settings for the ideas presented.
She has served as the President of the American Academy of Religion Southwest Region, is a founding member of the Paul Ricoeur Society, sat on OU’s Research Council, and is one of the department’s academic advisors. Recent service at OU includes work with nutritional assistance for students, faculty, and staff.
